Facebook users have long clamoured for a 'dislike' button, to complement the site's popular 'like' button.
Now, they've got one – but it's a scam.
Over the past day, some users have seen their friends post the following update:
It reads: "Facebook now has a dislike button! Click 'Enable Dislike Button' to turn on the new feature!"
Problem is, clicking on 'Enable Dislike Button' runs a Javascript function, pasting the update on all your friends' pages, and opening up the victim's Facebook account to abuse.
It has spread fast and wide because it looks very much like an official Facebook post, which it is not.
Facebook has been hit with a series of viral scams recently, such as clicking a link to find out who has been looking at your profile, passed along by users of the site who don't know any better.
